Uses of Vinphatex

2. Indications of the drug Vinphatex

Maintenance treatment of duodenal ulcer after ulcer has healed to prevent recurrence. Esophagitis in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease. 3. Contraindications of Vinphatex:


Allergy to any ingredient of Vinphatex. History of allergy to other medicines containing Cimetidine. History of allergy to drugs belonging to the H2-antagonist group.

4. Dosage and how to use Vinphatex


Dosage in adults:
Treatment of peptic ulcer: Initial dose: Take 4 tablets (800mg)/time as a single dose at night before going to bed, or take 2 tablets (400mg)/time x 2 times/day at breakfast or in the evening. Maintenance dose: Take 2 tablets (400mg) / time in the evening before going to bed or take 1 tablet (200mg) / time x 2 times / day in the morning or evening. The duration of treatment for gastric ulcers is at least 6 weeks, for duodenal ulcers is at least 4 weeks, for ulcers caused by taking NSAIDs is at least 8 weeks. Gastroesophageal reflux disease: Usual dose: Take 2 tablets (400mg)/time x 4 times/day with meals and at bedtime, or take 4 tablets (800mg)/time x 2 times/day. Duration of treatment is 4 to 8 weeks. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Usual dose: Take 2 tablets (400mg)/time x 4 times/day. The maximum dose can be used up to 12 tablets (2.4 g)/day. Prophylaxis of peptic ulcers caused by Stress: Usual dose: Take 1-2 tablets (200-400mg)/time x 4-5 times/day. Prophylaxis of gastric acid aspiration: In obstetrics: Take 2 tablets (400mg)/time at the beginning of labor. Then take 2 tablets (400mg) every 4 hours as needed. The maximum dose can be used up to 12 tablets (2.4g)/day. In surgery: Take 2 tablets (400mg)/time before pre-anesthesia. Non-ulcer dyspepsia: Usual dose: Take 1 tablet (200 mg)/time x 1-2 times/day. Short bowel syndrome: Usual dose: Take 2 tablets (400mg)/time x 2 times/day with breakfast or at bedtime. Decreased pancreatic enzyme breakdown in patients requiring this enzyme supplement: Usual dose: Take 1-2 tablets (200-400mg)/time x 4 times/day 60-90 minutes before meals. Dosage in children:
Children > 1 year: Take 25-30mg/kg/day in divided doses. Children < 1 year old: 20mg/kg/day in divided doses. Dosage in patients with renal failure is adjusted based on Creatinine clearance (CrCl):
CrCl 0 - 15ml/min: Take 1 tablet (200mg)/time x 2 times/day. CrCl 15-30ml/min: Take 1 tablet (200mg)/time x 3 times/day. CrCl 30-50ml/min: Take 1 tablet (200mg)/time x 4 times/day. CrCl > 50ml/min: Use the same dose as normal people.

5. Notes when using Vinphatex


Treatment with Vinphatex drug with high dose or prolonged, may cause side effects such as:
Common: Gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea. Neurological symptoms such as dizziness, somnolence, fatigue, headache. Skin rash, enlarged breasts in men. Uncommon: Impotence, acne rash, urticaria, maculopapularity, transient elevation of liver enzymes, elevation of serum creatinine. Rare: Cardiovascular symptoms such as atrioventricular conduction block, increased or decreased heart rate. Blood abnormalities such as pancytopenia, aplastic anemia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia. Neurological signs such as reversible confusion, depression, agitation, hallucinations, restlessness, disorientation. Signs of hypersensitivity such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, allergies (including anaphylaxis), fever, vasculitis, toxic epidermal necrolysis. Skin symptoms such as exfoliative dermatitis, erythema, erythema multiforme, baldness, hair loss. Other signs such as jaundice, liver dysfunction, cholestatic hepatitis, acute pancreatitis, interstitial nephritis, myalgia, arthralgia, increased risk of hospital-acquired pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia. Interaction with other drugs:
