IUI (intrauterine insemination), also known as intrauterine insemination, is a procedure performed by inserting a very small, soft and blunt catheter (catheter) through the opening of the cervix and then injecting sperm. filtered sperm into the uterine cavity.

IUI is carried out by selecting the husband's strongest sperm, and then injecting it into the wife's uterus at the time of ovulation. This method is to help increase the chances of conception for couples with infertility due to low sperm count; weak cervix; mild endometriosis... or unexplained infertility or infertility.

IUI is performed under the following conditions: the wife has a normal uterus, ovaries and at least one unobstructed fallopian tube, and the husband has qualified sperm.
Indications for injecting sperm into the uterus

Infertile couples will be examined, do intensive tests to know if they are eligible for artificial insemination or not. If the above conditions are met, artificial insemination is carried out with the following steps:
Day 2 or day 3 of the menstrual cycle, the wife is given ovarian stimulation drugs. On 6-7 menstrual cycles, the wife goes to an ultrasound to assess the response status of the ovaries, through which the doctor adjusts the medicine and makes an appointment for the next ultrasound. Around day 9 - 10, if there is a "ripe" follicle, the wife is injected with ovulation medicine. After 36-40 hours since the injection of the ovulation drug, the sperm injection into the wife's uterus is conducted after the husband collects semen for washing, selecting good motile sperm. After pumping, the wife rested in place for about 15 minutes. At home, the wife can still do normal work but limit vigorous activity to support successful conception and subsequent pregnancy development. 2 weeks later, the wife went to the hospital to check the results. Thus, with favorable cases, from the time of artificial insemination to knowing the results of pregnancy or not, it takes about 25-30 days. If you are pregnant, you will take care of your pregnancy and have regular antenatal check-ups. In case not pregnant, the couple will be instructed to have natural intercourse, after 2-3 months, return to perform the next artificial insemination.
