1. What does Cedax do?

Upper respiratory tract infections: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, scarlet fever, acute sinusitis, acute otitis media; Lower respiratory tract infections: Acute bronchitis, exacerbations in chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, acute maxillary sinusitis; Urinary tract infections (UTIs) in children and adults, both with and without complications; Enteritis, gastroenteritis in children. Cedax is available in the form of 200mg, 400mg capsules and 36mg/ml oral suspension.

2. Instructions on how to take Cedax


Because it is an antibiotic, Cedax should be used strictly according to the doctor's prescription. Users should not self-medicate with this drug. It should be noted that the dosage information below is for reference only.
Dosage of Cedax for adults and children >12 years old: Oral 400mg/day, 10 day course; Dosage of Cedax for children from 6 months to 12 years: Oral 9 mg/kg x 1 time/day, 10 days course. Dosage of Cedax for patients with renal failure: Creatinine clearance from 30 - 49ml/min: dose 4.5mg/kg or 200mg/day; Creatinine clearance from 5 - 29ml/min: dose 2.25mg/kg or 100mg/day; On hemodialysis: 9mg/kg or 400mg/day at the end of each dialysis session.

3. Side effects of the drug Cedax


In general, the Ceftibuten component in Cedax is well tolerated, with most side effects being mild and transient. However, during treatment with Cedax, users may still experience unwanted reactions such as nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and rash.
In very rare cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, pseudomembranous colitis, erythema multiforme, jaundice, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia may occur.

4. Notes when using Cedax


Cedax is contraindicated in patients who are allergic or sensitive to Cephalosporin antibiotics.
In addition, caution should be exercised when using Cedax for the following cases:
Patients who are allergic to Penicillin (5% of patients allergic to Penicillin have cross-allergy with drugs of the Caphalosporin group); The patient is on long-term broad-spectrum antibiotics (which can cause overgrowth of non-susceptible strains); Patients with kidney failure or problems with impaired kidney function; Children under 6 months old (safety has not been determined in this group); Women who are pregnant and breast-feeding (should consult a doctor before taking Cedax antibiotics).
