Uses of Naligram

What is Naligram? Naligram drug contains nalidixic acid which belongs to the 1st generation quinolone antibiotic group which is also a typical substance of this group of drugs.
Naligram when absorbed into the body is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After oral administration of 1 gram of the drug, the maximum plasma concentration of 20 to 50 mcg/mL is reached within 2 hours. The drug is partially metabolised to hydroxy nalidixic acid, which has antibacterial activity.
Naligram is excreted unchanged in the urine, and is eliminated within 24 hours.

Naligram is indicated in the treatment of uncomplicated lower urinary tract gram-negative infections caused by major strains of bacteria E Coli, Enterobacter sp.... To reduce drug resistance, patients should test for susceptibility. of the drug before and during treatment to consider whether to use the drug or adjust the dose to suit the subject.
Cases of quinolone antibiotics including nalidixic acid have been associated with serious adverse reactions and uncomplicated urinary tract infections in some patients that resolved spontaneously. However, Naligram is also contraindicated in the following cases:

Naligram is used in the morning and afternoon. The recommended adult dosage is 2 capsules 4 times a day. As for children, the dose of Naligram is 50mg/kg/day.
