Pramipex belongs to the group of anti-Parkinsonian drugs, made in the form of tablets, boxed specifications of 3 blisters x 10 tablets. The Pramipexol dihydrochloride monohydrate (1g) component in Pramipexol is a non-derived, highly specific in vitro and fully intrinsic dopamine agonist active at the D2 subfamily of the dopamine receptor, with high affinity binding. more with D 3 than with D 2 or D 4 receptor subtypes.
The exact mechanism of action of Pramipexol dihydrochloride monohydrate in the treatment of Parkinson's is unknown, although it is thought to be related to its ability to stimulate dopamine receptors in the striatum. This conclusion is supported by electrophysiological studies in animals that demonstrate that pramipexol dihydrochloride monohydrate affects the rate of neuronal excitability prior to activation of dopamine receptors in the striatum and substantia nigra, the sites of neurons send predictions to the striatum. However, the involvement of the D-binding receptor 3 in Parkinson's disease is unknown.
