Sotamic stomach medicine is a product of ACME Formulation (P) Ltd - INDIA containing 3 active ingredients: Rabeprazole, Tinidazole, Clarithromycin. The drug is indicated for use in the symptomatic treatment of H.pylori. Rabeprazole: 20mg; Clarithromycin: 250mg; Tinidazole: 500mg.

2. What effect does Sotamic have?


What does Sotamic drug do? Sotamic is a combination drug indicated for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori bacteria in the stomach causing peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis.
Rabeprazole is an active ingredient that inhibits the H+, K+ - ATPase pump in the stomach, inhibiting gastric acid secretion; Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that is stable in acidic media; Tinidazole is an alternative derivative of imidazole compounds with activity against protozoa and anaerobic bacteria. The mechanism of action of Tinidazole is to destroy the DNA chain, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis. Helicobacter pylori is considered a common cause of peptic ulcer disease in humans. The 3-drug combination therapy including proton pump inhibitors such as Rabeprazole in combination with clarithromycin and tinidazole is one of the regimens with short, simple treatment time, with high efficiency in eradicating H.pylori.

3. Dosage of the drug Sotamic


The dose of Sotamic medicine is prescribed by the doctor according to the HP treatment protocol. The recommended dose for adults is to take 1 blister of Sotamic medicine per day, divided into 2 times and take the drug 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after eating. The tablet must be swallowed whole, not chewed.
More specifically, the patient will take 1 tablet of Rabeprazole, 1 tablet of clarithromycin and 1 tablet of tinidazole, taken twice a day, usually for 7 days.

4. Contraindications of Sotamic


Contraindications of Sotamic drugs in the following cases:
Rabeprazole:
Contraindicated for use in people with hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole.
Clarithromycin:
Contraindicated for use in people who are allergic to macrolide antibiotics. Clarithromycin and terfenadine are absolutely contraindicated, especially in patients with heart disease such as arrhythmias, bradycardia, prolonged QT interval, myocardial ischemia or electrolyte imbalance. Tinidazole:
Contraindicated for use in people with hypersensitivity to tinidazole, patients with hematopoietic disorders or people with a history of acute porphyria. Contraindicated to use in the first trimester of pregnancy, nursing mothers, Contraindicated for use in patients with organic neurological disorders. Be careful when using Sotamic medicine for the elderly, people who work as drivers, and machine operators. If peptic ulcer is suspected, the possibility of malignancy should be excluded prior to administration of Rabeprazole, as the use of Rabeprazole may mask the symptoms of malignancy and delay the diagnosis. If the patient has severe renal impairment with/without hepatic impairment, the dose of Clarithromycin should be reduced and the dosing interval extended.

5. Undesirable side effects of the drug Sotamic


The most common unwanted side effects of Sotamic drugs are:
Bitter mouth, change in taste, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, digestive disorders; Fatigue, dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping, dizziness; Leukopenia , allergies, rash, swelling; Increase liver enzymes.

6. Daily diet when using Sotamic


Regarding diet and activities, patients should pay attention:

7. Sotamic drug interactions


Interactions of Sotamic drugs that may occur during use are as follows:
Clarithromycin when administered to patients receiving theophylline may increase serum theophylline concentrations. Clarithromycin increases carbamazepine concentrations. Cimetidine can reduce the elimination of the antibiotic tinidazole from the body because cimetidine inhibits the metabolism of tinidazole in the liver, thereby increasing both therapeutic effects and toxicity. Rifampicin may increase the elimination of the antibiotic tinidazole by increasing tinidazole metabolism in the liver and reducing its therapeutic effect. The use of rabeprazole with ketoconazole or itraconazole may reduce the absorption of ketoconazole or itraconazole, if used it is necessary to monitor the dose of ketoconazole or itraconazole. Avoid concomitant use of rabeprazole with erlotinib, nelfinavir, delavirdine, posaconazole.
