Hello pharmacist! My husband has hepatitis B and has to be treated with Lamivudine. The pharmacist asked me if my husband with hepatitis B can have children? Lamivudine drug does not affect the reproductive function of the user, so in this case, your husband is taking the drug and you are pregnant, so the drug cannot pass through the placenta to affect the baby.
However, the worry is that the hepatitis B virus can be transmitted between people living in the same household and also from mother to child, so there is a risk that the baby will get the disease at birth.
You have not said if you are infected, have immunity or have been vaccinated. At what stage is your husband infected with hepatitis B, so it is not possible to conclude that the husband with hepatitis B can have children.
