Dear customer,

With the question "Is blood pressure 128/65 mmHg normal?", the doctor would like to answer as follows:
According to the new classification of the American Heart Association (AHA), blood pressure is classified as follows:

  • Normal blood pressure is < 120/80.
  • Slightly increased blood pressure when systolic blood pressure (higher blood pressure value) is from 120-129 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (lower blood pressure value) is < 80 mmHg.
  • Stage 1 hypertension: when systolic blood pressure is 130-139 or diastolic blood pressure fluctuates between 80-90 mmHg.
  • Stage 2 hypertension: when systolic blood pressure is above 140 or diastolic blood pressure is above 90 mmHg

So according to your information, your blood pressure of 128/65 mmHg will be classified as having mildly increased blood pressure, for this threshold, treatment is not required but regular monitoring is needed, limiting salty food and exercising regularly for 30 minutes/day, at least 3 days/week.

If you still have questions about the blood pressure index of 128/65 mmHg, you can go to a hospital in the Vinmec Health System for further examination and consultation. Thank you for your trust and for sending questions to Vinmec. Wishing you good health.
Sincerely!
