In addition, the Association will promote education and the application of precision medicine for students; unlock significant potential in personalized treatment; and bring advanced 3D technology into practical use to enhance effectiveness and reduce treatment costs. It will also foster public–private–academic–institutional collaboration, encourage domestic research and production of 3D medical devices, and reduce reliance on high-cost imported products, thereby improving patient access to quality healthcare services.

According to the Ministry of Health, the establishment of the Association aligns with the global trend of applying science and technology in modern healthcare. The Ministry expects the Vietnam 3D Technology in Medicine Association to serve as a bridge connecting experts, medical facilities, research institutes, and technology enterprises, facilitating knowledge transfer and practical application, and contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.

The creation of the Association demonstrates the proactiveness of experts in embracing innovation while complying with legal regulations and making tangible contributions to the national healthcare system.

Professor Dr. Tran Trung Dung, Director of the Center for Orthopedic Trauma & Sports Medicine at Vinmec Times City International Hospital, affirmed:

“3D printing technology has been delivering breakthroughs in diagnosis, treatment, medical education, and the production of personalized medical devices. The establishment of the Association is essential to connect resources and build an ecosystem for the development of 3D technology in Vietnam’s healthcare sector.”

He also noted that research and implementation at leading medical institutions in Vietnam have shown that 3D printing technology not only improves treatment quality but also helps reduce errors, optimize costs, and personalize patient care.

At the Congress, delegates approved the Association’s Charter, the personnel plan, and elected an Executive Committee of 27 members. Professor Dr. Tran Trung Dung was elected President of the Association. The Executive Committee pledged to strengthen its role as a connector, promoting the extensive application of 3D technology in clinical practice and research.
