Side effects of Myderison 50mg

Table of content

Myderison is a muscle relaxant, used in the treatment of increased muscle tone in some diseases. Is Myderison safe? What are the side effects of Myderison 50mg?

1. Effects of Myderison 50mg

Myderison belongs to the group of muscle relaxants, prepared in the form of film-coated tablets, with the main ingredient in each tablet being Tolperisone Hydrochloride 50mg.

Tolperisone is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. Due to its ability to stabilize membranes and cause local anesthesia, tolperisone inhibits conduction in primary nerve fibers and motor neurons, thereby inhibiting polysynaptic and monosynaptic reflexes.

On the other hand, tolperisone also inhibits the influx of Ca2+ into the synapse. Experts believe that this substance inhibits the release of neurotransmitters. In the brainstem, tolperisone inhibits the reticulospinal reflex pathway. In various experimental animal models, Myderison can reduce increased muscle tone and spasticity that occurs after decerebration.

Tolperisone also has the effect of improving peripheral circulation. This effect is independent of the effects of the drug on the central nervous system but may be related to the mild antispasmodic and antiadrenergic effects of tolperisone.

Myderison is indicated in the following cases:

  • Pathological hypertonia of skeletal muscles in organic neurological disorders such as pyramidal tract lesions, cerebrovascular accidents, spinal cord diseases, encephalomyelitis, multiple sclerosis, etc.
  • Increased muscle tone, muscle spasms and spasms accompanied by motor disorders such as spondylosis, lumbar and cervical syndromes, and arthropathy of large joints.
  • Rehabilitation after trauma and orthopedic surgeries.
  • Treatment of vascular occlusive diseases such as atherosclerosis, diabetic vascular disease, thrombotic vasculitis, Raynaud's disease, and systemic sclerosis.
  • Syndromes caused by impaired neurovascular distribution such as acrocyanosis, and dyskinesia due to episodic neurovascular disorders.

Myderison is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • People who are sensitive to tolperisone or substances with a similar structure to eperisone or any ingredient of the drug.
  • Myasthenia gravis.

2. Dosage and administration of Myderison

Myderison is used orally, should be taken with meals or immediately after meals. The dosage of Myderison must follow the doctor's instructions, the reference dosage is as follows:

  • Adults use a dose of 150 - 450mg/day, divided into 3 equal parts depending on the needs and tolerance of each patient.
  • Children under 6 years old can use a dose of 5 mg/kg body weight/day, the total dose is divided into 3 equal parts.
  • Children from 6-14 years old, use a dose of 2-4 mg/kg body weight/day, the total dose is divided into 3 equal parts.

Data on overdose of Myderison are very rare. Tolperisone has a wide therapeutic dose range. The highest daily dose of Myderison recorded in the medical literature is up to 600 mg without causing any serious toxic symptoms.

Irritation has occurred after children used doses of 300 - 600 mg per day. In preclinical acute toxicity studies, using high doses of tolperisone can cause ataxia, tonic-tremor convulsions, dyspnea, and respiratory paralysis. There is no specific antidote for Myderison, if an overdose occurs, supportive treatment and symptomatic treatment should be given.
