Formerly Director of Hue Central Hospital, former Deputy Head of the Central Health Protection Committee, former President of the Vietnam Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and former President of the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS), Professor Bui Duc Phu is one of Vietnam’s foremost experts in cardiac surgery, with over 40 years of experience.
He was the lead surgeon and surgical team leader for the first-ever human heart transplant in Vietnam, performed entirely by a Vietnamese team.
For his exceptional contributions, he has been awarded the First-, Second-, and Third-class Labor Orders by the Vietnamese government in 2013, 2009, and 2007, respectively. In 2022, he was also honored with the National Order of Merit by the President of France.
Currently, Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Phu serves as the Director of Cardiology Specialty at the Vinmec Healthcare System.
