Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thuong Dung is a physician with many years of experience in cardiology, particularly in coronary intervention. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from Hue University of Medicine in 1987 and later completed his specialization in Cardiology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy (1993–1999). He earned his PhD in Cardiology in 2000 from the same institution. In 2003, he underwent interventional cardiology training at Mahidol University’s Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok, where he acquired advanced skills in cardiac intervention techniques.
Throughout his career, Dr. Dung has served in major hospitals, holding key roles such as Head of the Emergency and Interventional Cardiology Department at Thong Nhat Hospital and Director of its Cardiology Center. He has performed numerous complex procedures including percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), robotic coronary intervention, and advanced treatments such as balloon valvuloplasty, balloon angioplasty, and non-stent dilation techniques. In 2025, he joined Vinmec Central Park, where he now leads the Cardiology Center.
Dr. Dung is also actively involved in teaching and training, inspiring multiple generations of cardiologists. He is a member of domestic cardiology professional societies. Beyond his clinical and educational roles, he has published various scientific papers and presented at conferences on coronary interventions and complex cardiovascular treatments, contributing significantly to the advancement of cardiology in Vietnam. He has been honored with the title of Meritorious Physician and awarded the academic rank of Associate Professor, recognizing his long-standing contributions to Vietnamese medicine.
