Drug counseling for people with a history of hepatitis B

Ask
Hello doctor! My wife with hepatitis B has been treated for 2 years to a safe threshold, then stopped taking the medicine to have a baby and has stopped taking it for 4 years. Now go to the doctor for 10^5 virus, but the doctor said that you don't need to take medicine, and when you have high liver enzymes, you have to take it. However, until now, my wife's liver enzymes have never been high, even the last time I had to take liver enzymes 10^8 was not high. Your doctor can advise you on medication for people with a history of hepatitis B. I would like to thank you!

Answer
Hello! Indications for treatment are mainly based on a combination of 3 factors:
Serum HBV DNA level Serum aminotransferase level Level and histological stage. In addition, the age and health status, comorbidities are also considered. You should let your wife see a gastroenterologist to be able to do more tests such as: HBeAg or measure liver elasticity, liver biopsy when needed... to make an accurate decision.
You can register for your wife's examination at the Vinmec Health System Hospital to be examined by qualified doctors. I hope to be able to meet your wife to advise on medication with someone with a history of hepatitis B. Wish her good health always.
