Kryxana® is a medication used to treat a type of advanced or metastatic breast cancer in premenopausal or postmenopausal women. During use, the medication may cause certain unexpected side effects. Therefore, patients must strictly follow medical instructions when using this drug.
1. What is Kryxana®?
The active pharma ingredient in Kryxana® is ribociclib. This medication is prescribed for treating advanced or metastatic breast cancer in premenopausal or postmenopausal women. Doctors will conduct examinations and evaluate multiple factors before advising patients to use Kryxana® for treatment. Patients may need to combine this medication with other drugs to achieve the most effective treatment regimen.
2. Uses of Kryxana®
Kryxana® selectively inhibits cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6, affecting cell cycle activities and reducing the cell proliferation of breast cancer. Additionally, the drug may help reduce tumor size.

3. Usage and dosage of Kryxana®
Patients should only use Kryxana® under the prescription and monitoring of a specialist doctor. It is recommended to take the medication in the morning. Since the drug's absorption and effectiveness are not dependent on meals, it can be taken on an empty stomach (before meals) or after meals.
Patients should take the medication at the same time each day to improve medication adherence and avoid missed doses. If a dose is missed or the patient vomits after taking the medication, they should not take an additional dose but continue with the next dose as scheduled. Patients should avoid taking double doses at any given time.
To ensure treatment effectiveness, tablets should be swallowed whole without being broken, chewed, or crushed. Tablets that are broken or crushed should not be used. The usual dosage of Kryxana® is 600 mg once daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break to complete a 28-day cycle.
Multiple cycles of treatment may be required for improvement. Patients should attend periodic or scheduled follow-ups for evaluation and monitoring. The doctor will advise on the treatment duration. Patients should not stop taking the medication on their own, even if they feel better or their symptoms improve.
In cases of impaired liver or kidney function, the doctor may consider reducing the dosage. Patients must strictly follow the prescribed dosage and should not increase or decrease the dose without medical advice.
4. Potential side effects of Kryxana®
While using this medication, patients may experience fatigue, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headaches, cough, rash, or hair loss. Not all patients will experience side effects, and not all side effects occur in every patient.
If any unusual or uncomfortable symptoms occur, patients should inform their doctor during scheduled or periodic visits for proper evaluation and monitoring. The doctor may prescribe additional medications to alleviate some of the side effects.
For severe or prolonged symptoms, such as coughing, chest pain, difficulty breathing or unexplained fainting, patients should immediately notify their doctor or visit a healthcare facility for timely examination and treatment.
Nausea is a common side effect of Kryxana®, ranging from moderate to severe. To manage this, the doctor may prescribe anti-nausea medication during treatment.
The drug may also cause severe skin side effects. Patients experiencing progressive rashes or peeling skin accompanied by a fever above 38°C should report to their doctor immediately. Additionally, Kryxana® may prolong the QT interval on an electrocardiogram, potentially causing arrhythmias or fainting. Doctors will check the patient’s electrocardiogram before starting the medication and continue monitoring it during periodic check-ups. If patients notice unusually slow heartbeats or unexplained fainting, they should seek medical center to evaluate and monitor immediately.
Kryxana® may impact the lungs, liver, and hematological system. Doctors will check the patient's blood count and liver function before starting the medication and monitor them periodically during treatment.

5. Warnings when using Kryxana®
Patients should inform their doctor about their medical history, including chronic conditions, especially electrolyte imbalances, heart issues such as unstable angina, recent myocardial infarction, or a known prolonged QT interval on the electrocardiogram.
Kryxana® may interact with various drugs, including over-the-counter medications and dietary supplements. Drug interactions can affect the medication's effectiveness or increase its toxicity. Therefore, patients should discuss all medications they are currently taking or plan to take with their doctor or pharmacist.
Patients should strictly follow the prescribed instructions and attend periodic follow-ups to ensure treatment effectiveness and monitor potential side effects. Premenopausal patients should use contraception during treatment and for at least three weeks after the final dose. Breastfeeding should be avoided from the start of treatment until three weeks after the last dose.
The medication should be stored in a dry place and kept out of reach of children.
