Table of content

Angeliq contains female hormones and is used as a hormone replacement therapy in certain cases. To understand its uses and proper administration, refer to the following detailed article.

1. Effects of Angeliq Medication

Angeliq is a proprietary drug containing Estradiol and Drospirenone. The main components of Angeliq include 1 mg Estradiol and 2 mg Drospirenone, formulated as film-coated tablets.

Drospirenone is a female hormone that regulates ovulation and menstrual cycles. Estradiol is another female hormone involved in the development and maintenance of the female reproductive system.

The combination of these two hormones is used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to treat menopausal symptoms in women, including:

•    Vasomotor symptoms (e.g., hot flashes, night sweats), insomnia, depression, and nervous irritability.
•    Atrophy of genital organs due to estrogen deficiency caused by natural menopause
•    Hypogonadism, post-oophorectomy therapy, or primary ovarian insufficiency in women with an intact uterus
•    Prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women

2. Contraindications of Angeliq Medication

Angeliq should not be used in the following cases:

•    History of allergic reactions to any component of the medication
•    Unexplained vaginal bleeding that has not been ruled out for malignancy

3. Dosage and Administration of Angeliq Medication

How to Take Angeliq:

•    Women who have not previously used estrogen or who are switching from continuous combination oral contraceptives can start treatment with Angeliq at any time. Women switching from other hormone replacement therapies (HRT) should complete their current treatment cycle before starting Angeliq.
•    Each blister pack contains 28 tablets for a 28-day treatment cycle. Continuous use: Begin the next blister pack immediately after finishing the previous pack without a break. Swallow the tablet whole with a small amount of water, either before or after meals. For best results, take the medication at the same time every day to maintain hormone levels and avoid missing doses.

Dosage: Take one tablet per day

Missed Dose and Overdose:

•    Missed dose: Take the missed tablet as soon as possible. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed tablet. Avoid missing doses frequently, as it may lead to irregular menstrual bleeding.
•    Overdose: In some cases, overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, or abnormal bleeding. There is no specific antidote for Angeliq overdose; treatment is symptomatic.
