Treatment dose for adults:

  • The treatment dose for upper respiratory tract infections, including tonsillitis and pharyngitis, is 100 mg every 12 hours for 10 days.
  • Treatment dose for acute community-acquired pneumonia: 200 mg every 12 hours for 14 days.
  • Treatment dose for uncomplicated gonococcal infection: single dose is 200 mg.
  • Treatment dose for uncomplicated urinary tract infections: 100 mg every 12 hours for 7 days.
  • The treatment dose for skin and skin structure infections is 400 mg every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days.

Treatment dose for children:

  • Acute otitis media treatment dose: 10 mg/kg/day (maximum 400 mg/day, divided into 2 doses) for 10 days.
  • Treatment dose for pharyngitis and tonsillitis: 10 mg/kg/day (maximum 200 mg/day, divided into 2 doses) for 10 days.
  • The active ingredient, cefpodoxime, should be taken with food. In individuals with kidney impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min), the interval between doses should be increased to 24 hours. 
  • No dose adjustment is required for individuals with cirrhosis.

3.2. Overdose/missed dose

  • Overdose: Prescription drugs require a prescription from a doctor or pharmacist. For non-prescription drugs, you need to follow the instructions on the drug manufacturer's instructions.
