Uses of Biseko

Table of content

Biseko is used to restore lost blood volume, reduce blood protein and albumin levels, prevent infections, and treat blood dilution. The appropriate dosage will vary based on each person's condition and the severity of their illness.

1. What is Biseko?

Biseko is an intravenous injection produced by Biotest Pharma GmbH, Germany. It is used to restore lost blood volume, reduce gamma protein levels in the blood, prevent blood dilution, and treat infections in patients with antibody deficiency syndrome.

The main ingredient of Biseko is human plasma protein, with additional components like potassium, magnesium, clove, and calcium. This medication is only available by prescription.
Biseko is formulated as a solution that can be clear or yellow-brown, or slightly milky white. It is available in vials of 50ml, 250ml, or 500ml.

2. What are the uses of Biseko?

The use of Biseko supports the treatment of restoring lost blood volume, reducing gamma protein levels, and lowering protein and albumin levels in the blood. Additionally, the Biseko injection solution prevents blood dilution and infections related to antibody deficiency syndrome.

2.1. Pharmacodynamics

The main component of Biseko is a 5% protein solution derived from healthy human plasma. The intravenous infusion contains antibodies that combat both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

Biseko injection solution contains albumin and other transport proteins, making it suitable for replenishing lost blood volume after accidents or surgeries.

Biseko has high stability and does not contain clotting factors, so there is no need to consider blood type compatibility when administering it.

2.2. Pharmacokinetics

The Biseko injection solution contains intact human plasma protein with full stable biological activity. Therefore, its half-life, elimination, and metabolism are consistent with natural plasma, without affecting patients with impaired kidney function.

3. Dosage and Administration of Biseko

Each medication is indicated for different conditions with appropriate dosages. To ensure the effectiveness of Biseko, patients should follow the exact prescriptions of specialists or professional pharmacists.

Administration:

•    Biseko is administered intravenously.
•    Normally, the Biseko solution is clear or slightly milky white. Before use, inspect the solution for any precipitates or discoloration. Do not use Biseko if it contains sediment or is cloudy.
•    The Biseko injection solution should be warmed to body or room temperature before use.
•    When starting intravenous infusion of Biseko, the rate should not exceed 20 drops per minute (approximately 1ml per minute). If the body tolerates the medication well, the infusion rate can be gradually increased to a maximum of 0.3 – 0.4mg/kg body weight per hour.

Dosage:

•    For adults: The maximum dose can be increased up to 2000ml per day.
•    For children: The prescribed dose of Biseko injection solution is 15 – 20ml per kg of body weight per day.

Note: The intravenous infusion dosage of Biseko provided here is for reference only. The specific dosage will depend on the individual's condition, constitution, and severity of the illness.

4. Side Effects of Biseko Injection

In addition to the benefits of Biseko for health, during intravenous infusion, patients may experience some unwanted side effects:

Common Side Effects:

•    Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting
•    Fever, allergic reactions, mild back pain
Rare Side Effects:
•    The components in Biseko may cause hypotension
•    Can cause hypersensitivity reactions leading to shock

Handling Instructions:

•    If side effects occur, reduce the infusion rate or stop the infusion
•    If side effects persist even after stopping the medication, consult a doctor immediately
•    In case of shock, go to an anti-shock specialist for timely assistance

5. What to Do in Case of Biseko Overdose or Missed Dose

Biseko Overdose:

•    Blood volume increases if the patient overdoses or if the infusion rate is too high
•    For newborns and young children, an overdose of Biseko can lead to clinical symptoms, including increased hemolysis
Biseko Missed Dose:
•    In reality, Biseko injection solution is only used when needed and does not have a specific schedule, so missing a dose is almost nonexistent.

6. Drug Interactions with Biseko

•    Weakening Vaccines: Using Biseko reduces the effectiveness of some vaccines such as chickenpox, mumps, measles, ...
•    Serology Tests: Using Biseko temporarily increases antibodies in the blood, leading to positive serological test results.
•    Incompatibility: Do not mix Biseko intravenous infusion solution with other drugs. However, it can be mixed with saline solution.

During the use of Biseko intravenous infusion solution, patients should read the instructions carefully and consider the following information:
