Cetirizine Stada 10mg belongs to the antihistamine drug group and is manufactured by Stada-Vietnam Co., Ltd. It is available in film-coated tablet form, packaged as: box of 1 blister x 10 tablets, box of 5 blisters x 10 tablets, bottle of 500 tablets

The main active ingredient is 10mg Cetirizine dihydrochloride, along with excipients such as lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate, povidone, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol 6000, and titanium dioxide. 

2. Ingredients of Cetirizine?

Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that reduces natural histamine levels in the body, a chemical responsible for symptoms like itching, sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose.

This medication is available over-the-counter (OTC) in various forms such as capsules and tablets.Typically, a single daily dose provides rapid relief.

3. Therapeutic Uses of Cetirizine 10mg Stada

If you experience year-round or seasonal allergies, such as hay fever, your doctor may prescribe Cetirizine Stada 10mg. While Cetirizine alleviates allergic symptoms, it does not prevent or cure allergies altogether.

Cetirizine 10mg helps relieve allergy symptoms, including:

  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose
  • Itchy or watery eyes
  • Itchy throat or nose

These reactions can occur upon exposure to allergens such as mold, pollen, or pet dander. Allergies typically affect the nose, throat, sinuses, and other parts of the upper respiratory system.

Additionally, Cetirizine Stada 10mg is effective in managing chronic idiopathic urticaria (persistent hives of unknown origin), characterized by itchy welts on the skin.

Cetirizine does not prevent rashes or treat severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.

4. Dosage and Administration of Cetirizin Stada 10mg?

Instruction for use:

  • Cetirizine 10mg Stada is taken orally, with or without food.
  • Take it once daily at the same time each day. Do not take more or less than the dose recommended by the manufacturer or a physician.

Dosage:

  • For adults and children over 6 years, it is recommended to take ½ to 1 tablet of 10mg per day, depending on the severity of symptoms.
  • For patients over 77 years, the recommended dose is 5mg per day.
  • Patients with liver or kidney impairment should take reduced doses of at least half of the dose used by healthy adults.

5. Contraindications of Cetirizine

  • Do not use Cetirizine Stada 10mg to treat rashes with bruising, non-itching, blistering, or unusual coloration.
  • Not for patients allergic to Cetirizine, Hydroxyzine or any of its components.
  • Not recommended for breastfeeding women as it may be passed into breast milk.

6. Precautions When Using Cetirizine Stada 10mg

  • Use Cetirizine with caution when driving or operating machinery, as the drug may cause drowsiness.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication as it may enhance drowsiness.
  • Do not take Cetirizine with other central nervous system depressants as it may further reduce alertness, nervous system function, and exacerbate drowsiness
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. However, if the time is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the current dose to compensate for the missed dose.
  • Overdose in adults may cause drowsiness, while in children 18 months and older, it may cause restlessness, agitation and followed by drowsiness.

7. Potential Side Effects of Cetirizine Stada 10mg

The most common side effect of Cetirizine 10mg is drowsiness. Other possible symptoms include fatigue, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, and nausea.

Less common adverse effects include:

  • Changes in appetite (loss of appetite or increased hunger)
  • Urinary retention
  • Flushing
  • Increased saliva production
  • Hemolytic anemia
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Severe hypotension
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Hepatitis
  • Cholestasis
  • Glomerulonephritis
