3. Contraindications for Prezel 75

Prezel 75 should not be used in the following patients:

4. Cautions When Using Prezel 75

Caution should be exercised when using Prezel 75 in the following situations:

  • Diabetic patients: Dose adjustment of antidiabetic medications may be required.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions: There have been reports of hypersensitivity reactions, including cases of angioedema, after the drug became available. The medication should be discontinued immediately if symptoms such as angioedema, face swelling, swelling around the mouth, or upper respiratory swelling occur.
  • Pregabalin treatment has been associated with dizziness and somnolence, which can increase the risk of accidents such as falls in elderly patients.
  • Visual disturbances: In controlled clinical trials, blurred vision was reported more frequently in patients treated with pregabalin compared to those who received a placebo. Other visual disturbances, including transient blindness or blurred vision, have also been reported.
  • Renal impairment: There have been reports of renal impairment, and in some cases, discontinuing pregabalin may alleviate adverse effects.
  • Discontinuation symptoms: Symptoms such as insomnia, headache, nausea, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, anxiety, stress, depression, seizures, pain, increased sweating, and dizziness. Seizures may occur during the use of Prezel 75 or immediately after discontinuation of the medication.
  • Heart failure: Reports of heart failure have been observed in some patients treated with pregabalin.
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviors: These have been reported in patients treated with anticonvulsants. Therefore, patients should be monitored for signs of suicidal behavior, and appropriate treatment should be considered.
  • Drug abuse: Caution is required in patients with a history of substance abuse. Patients should be monitored for signs of pregabalin misuse.
  • Driving and operating machinery: Prezel 75 may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Since the medication may cause dizziness and somnolence, it is advised not to drive, operate machinery, or engage in dangerous activities while on the medication.
  • Pregnancy: Prezel 75 should not be used during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary (if the therapeutic benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus).
  • Women of childbearing potential: Due to unknown risks when using Prezel 75, women of childbearing age should use contraception if they are at risk of becoming pregnant.
  • Breastfeeding: It is not clear whether the drug is excreted in breast milk. However, the drug has been detected in rat milk. Therefore, breastfeeding should be discontinued during pregabalin therapy.
