Pigmentation: Taflotan can cause changes in pigmented tissue, increasing pigmentation of the iris, eyelids and eyelashes. After stopping the drug, the pigmentation of the iris is likely to remain unchanged, and the pigmentation of the eyelids and eyelashes may recover. Therefore, patients treated with Taflotan should be informed by their doctor about the risk of hyperpigmentation. During treatment, patients with increased iris pigmentation can continue to use Taflotan but need to have regular eye examinations and check-ups;
Eyelash changes: Taflotan eye drops can gradually change the eyelashes and vellus hair in the eye. These changes include increased length, color, thickness, shape and number of eyelashes. Eyelash changes will usually disappear after stopping the drug;
Endophthalmitis: Taflotan should be used with caution in patients with endophthalmitis (uveitis, iritis) because the inflammation may become more severe;
Macular edema: Taflotan should be used with caution in patients with aphakia, pseudophakic lens with posterior capsular tear or patients with risk factors for macular edema;
Do not use Taflotan in children due to safety concerns related to increased pigmentation after long-term use;
Transient blurred vision may occur after taking Taflotan. Therefore, patients should refrain from driving or operating machinery until this symptom disappears;
Caution when using Taflotan in pregnant women: Only prescribe if the benefits outweigh the risks;
Avoid using Taflotan in breastfeeding women. If the use of the drug is necessary, the doctor should instruct the patient to stop breastfeeding during the treatment period.
5. Taflotan drug interactions
Experts have not conducted specific studies on Taflotan drug interactions in humans, because the concentration of tafluprost in the body is very low after eye drops. In clinical studies, no significant interactions were observed even when tafluprost was used in combination with timolol. However, to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the drug, patients should still inform their doctors about the drugs they are using and the diseases they are suffering from.
Taflotan eye drops are indicated for the treatment of certain eye diseases. Because the drug has the potential to cause some unwanted side effects, patients need to use the drug exactly as prescribed by the doctor, do not abuse the drug. If any signs of side effects of the drug are encountered, patients should stop using the drug, immediately notify the doctor for timely examination, diagnosis and treatment.
