Gazgo is a medication commonly prescribed by doctors to treat gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract, support laxative effects, and improve digestive system health. Before using Gazgo, patients should consult a specialist regarding the appropriate dosage to ensure optimal effectiveness. 

1. What is Gazgo?

Gazgo belongs to the digestive system drug group and is manufactured by Mega Lifesciences, Ltd – Thailand. It is commonly recommended for treating gas accumulation in the stomach and intestines. Gazgo is formulated as soft gelatin capsules, oval-shaped and white in color, with packaging specifications of 3 blisters x 10 capsules per box. Each Gazgo soft capsule contains the following ingredients:  

  • Active ingredient: Simethicone 200 mg  
  • Excipients: Gelatin, purified water, Glycerin, and Titanium dioxide  

2. Uses, Indications, and Contraindications of Gazgo  

2.1 Uses of Gazgo  

According to research, Gazgo provides several beneficial effects, including:  

  • Prevention and treatment of acute & chronic colitis with typical symptoms such as constipation, abdominal spasms, bloating, and hemorrhoids  
  • Enhancing digestion, promoting laxative effects, and effectively reducing symptoms of colitis, spastic colon, constipation, hemorrhoids, or bloody stools  
  • Relieving symptoms of gas accumulation in the stomach and intestines and reducing post-surgical gas retention  
  • Supporting bowel movement, strengthening vascular walls, and promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria  
  • Improving overall health, making digestion more effective and comfortable

2.2 Indications for Gazgo  

Gazgo contains Simethicone, a viscous liquid compound that helps reduce the surface tension of gas bubbles and eliminate trapped gas in the digestive tract. Therefore, Gazgo is prescribed in the following cases:  

  • Patients experiencing symptoms of gas buildup in the stomach and intestines, such as bloating, discomfort, and distension  
  • Patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), characterized by bloating, indigestion, frequent bowel movements, or diarrhea  
  • Supportive therapy for post-surgical gas retention, functional dyspepsia, aerophagia (excessive swallowing of air), peptic ulcers, diverticulitis, and colonic spasms

2.3 Contraindications for Gazgo  

Gazgo should not be used in the following cases unless prescribed by a doctor:  

  • Patients with a history of hypersensitivity or allergy to Simethicone or any other inactive ingredients in the medication.  
  • Contraindicated for children under 18 years old.  
  • Relative contraindication for pregnant or breastfeeding women.  

3. Dosage and Administration of Gazgo

Currently, no severe adverse reactions have been reported with Gazgo use. However, if patients experience any unusual symptoms affecting cardiovascular, nervous, muscular, or digestive systems, they should discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention.  

5. Precautions When Using Gazgo  

5.1 Important Considerations  

Do not exceed 1000 mg of Simethicone per day unless instructed and closely monitored by a doctor. Use caution in specific groups:  

  • Children under 15 years old
  • Elderly patients  
  • Patients with liver or kidney disease  
  • Patients with myasthenia gravis  
  • Individuals with gastric ulcers or hepatic coma
  • Patients with known allergies to drug components  
  • Always check the expiration date before use.  
  • Discard any capsules that appear discolored or damaged.  
  • Pregnant women should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of using Gazgo. Self-medication is not recommended.  
  • Breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before using Gazgo to prevent potential drug transmission through breast milk.  
  • Store Gazgo at room temperature and avoid high heat, which could alter the drug’s composition.
