1. Uses of Wolvit 5mg
The biotin component in Wolvit is an essential vitamin for the activity of enzymes required for various metabolic functions, including glucose production, lipid formation, fatty acid synthesis, propionate metabolism, and assisting amino acids in performing their normal functional activities.
Typically, biotin is provided through the diet, and 150 – 300μg per day is considered sufficient. A portion of biotin is also synthesized by bacteria in the intestines and absorbed through the digestive system.
Sources of this vitamin include foods such as meat, egg yolks, milk, fish, and nuts. Biotin remains stable when heated, but it is less stable in alkaline environments, where it may be transformed into other substances.
When the body does not receive adequate biotin, it may cause signs and symptoms of biotin deficiency, including seborrheic dermatitis, atrophic glossitis, muscle pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, mild anemia, changes in the electrocardiogram, and hair loss or hair breakage.
When these symptoms appear, they usually respond well to biotin supplementation. Wolvit 5mg is commonly used to treat patients showing signs of biotin deficiency.
Wolvit 5mg is indicated for treating and preventing conditions caused by biotin deficiency in both adults and children, such as:
- Hair conditions like thinning hair, hair breakage, hair loss, increased oiliness or excessive dryness of the hair, and poor hair vitality.
- Skin conditions like dermatitis, excessive sebaceous secretion on the scalp, or dry, peeling skin.
- Nail conditions such as brittle nails, abnormal nail morphology or structure.
- Digestive dysfunction such as anorexia or malabsorption syndrome.
- Emotional and mental disorders such as irritability, fatigue, insomnia, apathy, and muscle weakness.
Additionally, individuals at risk of biotin deficiency should also be supplemented. People at risk include those with poor nutrition, an unbalanced diet, prolonged raw egg white consumption (which contains avidin, a glycoprotein that binds strongly to biotin and prevents its absorption), parenteral nutrition without biotin supplementation, individuals with malabsorption conditions post-bowel surgery, those with congenital biotin-dependent enzyme defects, or individuals with gut dysbiosis due to prolonged antibiotic use or dialysis patients.
