The common cold is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract, presenting symptoms such as runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, and body aches. These symptoms typically resolve on their own but can cause discomfort and inconvenience for the affected individual.
Some over-the-counter (OTC) medications can be used to alleviate common cold symptoms, and New Amelfu Daytime +C is a popular option available at Vinmec pharmacies. Below are some important points to note when using the medication
1. Ingredients and effects

One tablet of New Amelfu Daytime +C contains the following main ingredients: Acetaminophen (500 mg), Guaifenesin (200 mg), Phenylephrine (10 mg), Dextromethorphan (15 mg), and Vitamin C (100 mg).
- Acetaminophen (also known as Paracetamol): has pain-relieving effects; additionally, it has antipyretic properties and can be used for mild to moderate fever.
- Dextromethorphan: cough suppressant.
