Uses of Habroxol

1. What does Habroxol do?

Habroxol is used in specific cases such as:
Clearing mucus in the respiratory tract. Acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract accompanied by abnormal bronchial secretions, especially in acute exacerbations of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and asthmatic bronchitis. Support cases after surgery or emergency, to help prevent possible lung complications. Habroxol is not used in patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredient Ambroxol and have advanced peptic ulcers.

2. How to use Habroxol properly

Habroxol is an oral solution, the patient uses the dropper in the medicine box to get the solution into water or milk and drink it right after a meal.
Patients should take the dose according to the recommended dose printed on the product packaging or can refer to the following dosage:
Children from 13-24 months old: 2.5ml Ambroxol/time x 2 times/day (15 mg/day) ) Children from 6-12 months old: 2ml Ambroxol/time x 2 times/day (12mg/day) Children under 6 months old: 1ml Ambroxol/time x 2 times/day (6mg/time) Children over 2 years old and adults : use syrup form. If you miss a dose, take that dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of the next dose, skip the make up dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not double Ambroxol to compensate for the dose. In case of overdose of Ambroxol, the patient should immediately notify the doctor if any unusual symptoms appear or go to the hospital for timely treatment.

3. Habroxol drug interactions

If two or more drugs are used together, they can cause drug interactions. Ambroxol used together with drugs of the antibiotic group such as: Cefuroxim, Amoxycilin, Erythromycin, Doxycyclin will increase antibiotic concentration in lung parenchyma.
However, there have been no reports of adverse interactions with other drugs in clinical practice.

4. Possible side effects when taking Habroxol

During the treatment with Habroxol, patients may experience some side effects that are usually mild and transient such as:
Heartburn Nausea and vomiting Indigestion Rash If the patient experiences any side effects life-threatening in the process of using the drug, notify your doctor or go to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.

5. Precautions when using Habroxol

Patients should carefully refer to the instructions for use of the drug, instructions from the doctor or pharmacist and can refer to some additional notes below:
In case the patient has a gastrointestinal ulcer and coughs up blood , caution should be exercised when taking Ambroxol. Because, Ambroxol can dissolve fibrin clots and cause bleeding again. Ambroxol is not indicated for use in pregnant and lactating women. You should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
