I am 16 years old but my breasts are not developing, what should I do?

Question

I am 16 years old, and I started my period two years ago when I was in 8th grade. Since then, I feel like my breasts are not developing at all. They seem to have remained the same, with no noticeable change. I hope the doctor can provide some advice on whether there might be an underlying issue and what I can do to encourage their development, like my friends.

Answer

Dear! Although most girls will develop breasts when they are around 11-12 years old, some will start to develop breasts when they are only 7-8 years old and some girls will not develop breasts until they are 15 years old. In general, these are still completely normal times for breast development. Some girls who regularly exercise, dance or play sports may have delayed puberty. There are cases where the areola still develops, but the breast size is small, this can be improved through light exercise and a nutritious diet, with enough groups of substances, vitamins and even fat.

If you want to have your breasts checked thoroughly, you can go to the gynecological clinic of the Vinmec Healthcare System for more detailed advice from a doctor.

Thank you for trusting Vinmec. We look forward to meeting you for more specific advice.
