Alerday 120 is prepared in the form of film-coated tablets, with the main ingredient Fexofenadine HCl 120mg. The drug belongs to the antiallergic group and is used in cases of hypersensitivity.
1. Uses of Alerday medicine
Alerday 120 medicine has the main ingredient Fexofenadine HCl 120mg. Fexofenadine HCl is a non-sedating H1 antihistamine with the activity of terfenadine. Studies on histamine-induced urticaria in humans: Using Fexofenadine once/day or twice/day shows that: The drug has an antihistamine effect within 1 hour, reaching maximum levels within 6 hours and has the effect lasts for 24 hours.
Alerday medicine is indicated for use in the following cases:
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis: It is used to relieve the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children 6 years of age and older. Symptoms include: Sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, nose and throat, red eyes, watery eyes;
- Chronic idiopathic urticaria: Use Alerday 120 to treat uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria, helping to reduce itching and urticaria.
- Contraindications to using Alerday 120: People with hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.
2. How to use and dosage of Alerday 120
How to use: Oral route.
Dosage for adults and children 12 years of age and older:
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis: Use a dose of 60mg x 2 times/day. Dosage can be 120mg/time/day or 180mg/time/day;
- Chronic spontaneous urticaria: Use a dose of 60mg x 2 times/day. Can take a dose of 180 mg/time/day.
Dosage for children 6 - 12 years old:
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis: Use a dose of 30mg x 2 times/day;
- Chronic idiopathic urticaria: No indications.
- Dosage for patients with renal failure: Start with a dose of 60mg x times/day.
Overdose: When using an overdose of Fexofenadine HCl (a component of the drug Alerday), the patient may experience dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, etc. When giving the drug to healthy people at doses up to 800mg /time and 690mg/time x 2 times/day for 1 month or 240mg/time/day for 1 year without significant side effects. There is currently no maximum tolerable dose of Fexofenadine HCl. When an overdose occurs, the patient can be treated to remove unabsorbed drugs from the body (symptomatic and supportive treatment is recommended).
3. Side effects of Alerday 120
Some side effects that patients experience when using Alerday include: difficulty urinating, fatigue, headache, difficulty breathing, nausea, drowsiness, angina,... If the side effects last long, become more serious, the patient should notify the doctor for timely advice and support.
4. Be cautious when using Alerday 120
When using Alerday, patients should note:
- There is very little data on the use of Alerday in the elderly, patients with liver failure or kidney failure.
- Therefore, when using Alerday, special caution should be exercised in these patient groups;
- The safety and effectiveness of Alerday have not been studied in pediatric patients under 6 years of age;
- There is no complete data on the use of Alerday in pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. Do not use the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless necessary and safety for the fetus and children is guaranteed (as prescribed by your doctor);
- Fexofenadine HCl has no significant effects on the central nervous system. However, patients should check each patient's response before driving, operating machinery, etc. to assess whether there is any unusual reaction to the drug.
5. Drug interactions Alerday 120mg
Some drug interactions of Alerday 120mg include:
- Concomitant use of Fexofenadine HCl (a component of the drug Alerday) with ketoconazole or erythromycin may increase Fexofenadine plasma concentrations;
- Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium may reduce the absorption of Alerday;
- Grapefruit, apple, and orange juice may reduce the bioavailability of Fexofenadine.
