Uses of Bisohexal 5 mg

Table of content

Bisohexal 5 mg is a drug used to treat high blood pressure and angina. To better understand the uses and dosage of the drug, you can refer to the article below.

1. Main ingredients of bisohexal

Bisohexal 5mg is produced in tablet form. Each tablet contains the following ingredients:

•    Bisoprolol fumarate 5mg;
•    Excipients.

2. Uses of Bisohexal

Bisohexal is a selective blocker of Beta 1 - adrenergic receptors, has no membrane stabilizing properties, and has no intrinsic sympathomimetic effect. Bisoprolol at low doses will selectively inhibit the response to Adrenergic stimulation by competitively blocking the beta 1 - adrenergic receptors of the heart. When using Bisoprolol at high doses, the selectivity of Bisoprolol on Beta 1 - adrenergic receptors is often reduced, and the drug will competitively inhibit both Beta 1 and Beta 2 - adrenergic receptors.

Regarding absorption, Bisohexal is completely absorbed through the digestive tract, with little first-pass metabolism in the liver. Peak plasma concentrations are reached 2 - 4 hours after oral administration. The drug is excreted in the urine and has a plasma half-life of about 10 - 12 hours.

Bisohexal is indicated for use in the following cases:

•    Controlling hypertension;
•    Controlling angina;
•    Combined multi-therapy in patients with stable chronic heart failure.

3. Dosage and usage of Bisohexal

Usage: Bisoprolol is prepared in tablet form, so oral administration is best.

Dosage:
•    To control hypertension or angina: Take 5 - 10 mg x 1 time/day; the maximum dose is 20 mg/day.
•    In case of congestive heart failure: Take 1.25 mg x 1 time/day. If the tolerability is good, the dose can be doubled after 1 week and then gradually increased over 1-4 weeks until the maximum tolerated dose. Note that it should not exceed 10 mg/time/day.
•    In patients with liver and kidney failure: Take 2.5 mg/time/day and gradually increase the dose until the patient responds. The maximum dose is 10 mg/time/day.

4. What to do when overdose or missed dose of Bisohexal?

When you overdose on Bisohexal, you may experience these symptoms:

•    Slow heart rate;
•    Low blood pressure;
•    Congestive heart failure;
•    Hypoglycemia.

When this problem occurs, you should calmly handle it: Stop taking Bisoprolol and treat the symptoms. For example, if the heart rate is slow, inject Atropine intravenously. If blood pressure is low, infuse intravenous fluids and use blood pressure-raising drugs, etc. However, these are the treatment options for reference. To ensure safety and proper treatment, you must immediately visit the nearest medical facility.

When you forget a dose of Bisohexal, do the following: Take Bisohexal as soon as possible, preferably as soon as you remember. However, if the missed dose is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not double the prescribed dose to make up for the missed dose.
