1. What are the uses of Locatop?

Locatop 0.1% is formulated as a topical cream and packaged in a 30g tube. Locatop contains the active ingredient Desonide. Desonide has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictor properties. The medication helps reduce the formation, release, and activity of inflammatory chemical mediators such as kinins, histamines, and prostaglandins by inducing phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins. Locatop is used in the treatment of contact eczema, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, dyshidrosis, and more.

2. Dosage and Usage of Locatop

2.1. Usage

Locatop is formulated as a topical cream and should be applied externally. Before use, patients should clean the affected area and dry the skin. Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area, avoiding thick application that may cause blockage. It can be applied to dry or oozing wounds. After application, avoid contact with other objects that may remove the cream and allow the skin to dry naturally.

2.2. Dosage

Patients should apply the cream twice daily to the affected area. The above dosage is for reference only. The specific dosage of Locatop depends on the patient's condition and disease progression. To determine the appropriate dosage, patients should consult a dermatologist.

3. Contraindications of Locatop

Locatop is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Desonide or any component of the medication.
  • Patients with severe ulcerative lesions or acne.
  • Patients with viral infections such as herpes, shingles, or chickenpox.
  • Patients with bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infections.

4. Side Effects of Locatop

Prolonged use of Locatop can lead to unwanted side effects, including skin thinning, atrophy, and increased vulnerability. Patients may also experience acne outbreaks, skin irritation, and itching. Additionally, Locatop can be absorbed through the skin and cause systemic side effects such as headaches, increased blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, and adrenal insufficiency. If any unusual side effects occur, patients should discontinue use and inform their doctor or visit a medical facility for timely management.

5. Precautions When Using Locatop

Desonide can be absorbed through the skin. The extent of absorption depends on several factors, including the integrity of the epidermis, the patient's age, the duration of use, and the use of occlusive dressings. The absorption of topical steroids increases in infants and young children. Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression can occur, especially in young children or patients using high doses for prolonged periods. Therefore, Locatop should not be used in infants and young children.

Do not apply the medication to large areas of skin, open wounds, or ulcerated areas.
Patients should not abruptly discontinue the medication; the dosage should be gradually reduced or as directed by a physician.

Skin infections may appear or develop during treatment. Discontinue Locatop if skin infections persist despite appropriate antibiotic treatment.

  • Pregnancy: Consider the use of Locatop in pregnant women carefully.
  • Breastfeeding: Consider the use of Locatop in breastfeeding women carefully. Avoid applying to the nipple and areola area until breastfeeding is discontinued; if necessary, patients can apply the medication immediately after breastfeeding and then wash the nipple thoroughly before the next feeding.

Store Locatop at a temperature between 20-30°C, and do not leave the medication outdoors as it is easily affected by environmental factors. Do not store the product in high humidity or direct sunlight.
