Uses of Miko penotran

Table of content

Miko Penotran is used to treat certain inflammatory conditions of the vulva and vagina. So, is Miko Penotran effective, and how should this medication be used?

1. Uses of Miko Penotran

Miko Penotran contains the active ingredient Miconazole 1200 mg, which has broad-spectrum and effective antifungal activity, including against Candida albicans.

It is also effective against Aspergillus spp., Pseudallescheria boydii, Cryptococcus neoformans, and some Gram-positive bacteria (such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species).

Miko Penotran should be used for the treatment of vaginal yeast infections caused by Candida and fungal infections concurrent with Gram-positive bacterial infections.

Miko Penotran is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Individuals with a history of allergy to Miconazole nitrate.
  • Pregnant women in the first trimester.

2. Dosage and administration of Miko Penotran

  • Insert one 1200 mg Miko Penotran vaginal tablet deeply into the vagina at bedtime.
  • A single dose of 1200 mg is usually sufficient. If deemed necessary by the doctor, Miko Penotran can be used for three consecutive days.

Note: The dosage mentioned above is for reference only. Consult a specialist doctor for an appropriate prescription.
Precautions when using Miko Penotran:

  • Miko Penotran vaginal tablets are effective only for treating Candida-induced vaginitis. It is advisable to examine vaginal discharge under a microscope with KOH and/or diagnose fungal vaginitis/vulvitis through culture testing.
  • Avoid contact between Miko Penotran and vaginal diaphragms or condoms, as the medication may degrade latex materials. Diaphragms or condoms can be used three days after completing treatment.
  • Miko Penotran is not recommended for use in children.
Pregnant women should avoid using Miko Penotran during the first trimester unless deemed absolutely necessary by a doctor.

The Miconazole nitrate in Miko Penotran is absorbed through the vaginal route into the bloodstream in very small amounts (approximately 1.4% of the dose). Therefore, interactions with orally administered medications are unlikely. However, Miko Penotran may enhance the anticoagulant effects in patients taking Warfarin.

3. Side effects of Miko Penotran

Common side effects when using Miko Penotran suppositories include:

  • Vaginal area: Burning and itching sensations, pelvic muscle cramps.
  • Central nervous system: Headaches.
  • Less common side effects: Skin reactions (Hives, skin rash).

Notify your doctor of any side effects experienced while using Miko Penotran to receive timely management.

In summary, Miko Penotran vaginal tablets are used to treat Candida-induced vaginitis and fungal infections concurrent with Gram-positive bacterial infections. Patients should use the medication as prescribed by their doctor to enhance therapeutic effectiveness and ensure safety.
