What are Diatabs?

Table of content
Attapulgite has the ability to coat the mucosa and absorb toxins (including bacteria and viruses) in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, this active ingredient is indicated for diarrhea caused by various reasons. One of the products containing this active ingredient is Diatabs 600mg.

1. What are Diatabs?

Diatabs 600mg contains 600mg of the active ingredient Attapulgite, along with other excipients such as pregelatinized corn starch, corn starch, and magnesium stearate. The active ingredient in Diatabs has a high surface coverage ability, in addition to its ability to absorb toxins, thus protecting the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract. Furthermore, Attapulgite has a local hemostatic effect through the activation of clotting factors V and XII.

2. Pharmacological characteristics of Diatabs 600mg

From a pharmacological perspective, Diatabs, with its activated attapulgite, efficiently absorbs and eliminates toxins, including bacteria and viruses in the intestines. This helps treat diarrhea and other gastrointestinal infections. Additionally, Diatabs 600mg absorbs water from secretions produced by inflammation, significantly improving stool consistency. Furthermore, it can cover and protect the inflamed gastrointestinal mucosa.

Attapulgite is a hydrated aluminum magnesium silicate or an inorganic clay with physical and chemical properties similar to kaolin. Activated attapulgite is carefully heated to enhance its adsorptive capacity.

The Attapulgite in Diatabs 600mg is not absorbed into the body and is excreted directly through feces.

  • Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in nonspecific colitis;
