3. Dosage and Administration of Telfast 180mg

Telfast 180mg containing Fexofenadine, should be taken orally with water, preferably before meals. It is advised not to take this medication with fruit juices such as grapefruit, orange, or apple juice.

Recommended dosage based on patient profile:

  • Adults and children above 12 years old should take one 180mg tablet once daily.
  • Patients with renal impairment: 60mg once daily.
  • Patients with hepatic impairment: No dose adjustment required.
  • Elderly patients with normal renal function does not require any dose adjustment.

5. Potential Adverse Effects of Telfast 180mg

During treatment, some patients may experience unwanted side effects though very rarely. However most adverse effects come in severe allergic reactions such as:

  • Swelling of the face, throat, lips, or tongue
  • Difficulty breathing

Other common mild side effects include: drowsiness, headache, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., indigestion, dyspepsia, menstrual pain), sore throat, otitis media, sinusitis, back pain, flu-like symptoms.

Less common side effects include: Sleep disturbances, dry mouth, back pain, anxiety or frequent nightmares.

6. Notes in the process of using Telfast 180mg

Patients with renal impairment should exercise caution when using Telfast 180mg, as impaired kidney function can prolong drug half-life and increase plasma concentrations.

It is important not to self-administer additional H1-antihistamines without consulting a healthcare provider. Concurrent use may increase the risk of adverse effects.

Additionally, Telfast 180mg has been reported to potentially worsen psoriasis symptoms. Patients with psoriasis should discuss this risk with their doctor before starting treatment.
