Early screening of 914 cases – Vinmec Ha Long proudly serves the community

For many underprivileged residents and ethnic minorities in Van Don, Binh Lieu (the poorest district in Quang Ninh), Ba Che (mostly ethnic minorities), and Mong Cai, visiting Vinmec Ha Long doctors marked the first time they received comprehensive, high-standard international health check-ups. Particularly, the doctors conducted highly attentive examinations across multiple specialties such as cardiology, gynecology, gastroenterology, digestive surgery, urology surgery, trauma and orthopedics, musculoskeletal care, and more, earning high satisfaction from the community.

Since the beginning of 2023, Vinmec Ha Long International General Hospital has organized 12 community programs combining seminars with health screenings. The aim is to raise community awareness about healthcare and provide free multi-specialty screenings. Through these initiatives, many residents diagnosed with conditions requiring surgery were referred to Vinmec Ha Long for treatment, achieving good results and health recovery. For patients who needed monitoring or treatment but were unable to visit Vinmec, doctors guided them to local medical facilities or public hospitals for timely care.

Vinmec Ha Long has actively implemented 12 screening programs in just 1 year.

During the first visit to Binh Lieu district on December 7, 2023, Vinmec doctors detected illnesses in 171 cases, including one patient requiring joint replacement surgery and five cases needing coronary artery imaging. Vinmec Hospital also coordinated with Binh Lieu District Health Center to provide outpatient medication for the remaining cases.

“Through this program, ethnic minority communities have gained greater awareness of regular health check-ups. Screening costs are minimal, yet early detection allows effective, low-cost treatment, reducing financial burdens for families. We highly appreciate Vinmec doctors’ community screening activities and hope they will continue to return” expressed Dr. Doan Ngoc Thanh, Director of Ba Che District Health Center.

At Vinmec Ha Long’s community programs, residents also received education on common disease screenings. Doctors spent considerable time discussing the growing incidence of early-onset diseases and cancer—conditions that, if detected early, can be fully treated. Physicians also guided residents on regular blood pressure monitoring to detect hypertension, breast self-examinations for breast cancer screening, and stool tests for colorectal cancer screening.

Since its inception in 2017, Vinmec Ha Long International General Hospital has prioritized supporting community health screenings, particularly for underprivileged and ethnic minority populations. In addition to hosting multi-specialty free examination days at the hospital, doctors routinely travel to remote districts to provide medical check-ups for residents.

Recognizing and honoring Vinmec Ha Long’s community spirit, local authorities and various Quang Ninh organizations have presented the hospital with meaningful commendations, certificates, and awards. Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee and the Red Cross of Quang Ninh awarded Certificates of Merit in 2017 and 2018; Ha Long City People’s Committee and Dong Trieu Town People’s Committee granted Certificates of Recognition in 2018; and the hospital director was honored as an Outstanding Individual for Child Welfare from 2016 to 2018.
