Vinmec provides free screening and treatment support for 15,000 cancer patients

From now until October 18, Vinmec is organizing a nationwide cancer screening and early detection program at 18 locations across 8 provinces and cities, aiming to benefit approximately 15,000 people.

The program is a collaboration between the Cancer Patient Support Fund – Bright Future, K Hospital, the Thien Tam Fund, and the Vinmec Healthcare System (Vingroup), along with participating hospitals. Its goal is to raise community awareness about cancer prevention and early detection, encouraging proactive, routine screening habits.

It is expected that around 15,000 participants in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho will receive free screening for three of the most common cancers in Vietnam: breast cancer, cervical cancer, and colorectal cancer.

Notably, individuals diagnosed with cancer through the screening program will receive treatment cost support ranging from 70% to 100% from the Thien Tam Fund (Vingroup) at Vinmec International Hospitals nationwide.

According to statistics, Vietnam records approximately 126,000 new cancer cases annually, including 12,500 breast cancer cases, 5,700 cervical cancer cases, and 13,500 colorectal cancer cases. Late detection remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths.

With the message “Cancer – screen early, treatment within reach”, this program provides opportunities for early detection of cancer risks, optimizing treatment outcomes and improving quality of life for the community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuyen, former Deputy Minister of Health and Chairperson of the Cancer Patient Support Fund – Bright Future, emphasized:

“Cancer is a major burden on public health. This program is meaningful as it provides people with the opportunity to receive examinations and treatment under the best conditions, while also raising social awareness about cancer prevention.”

Through the screening program, cases detected with cancer will be supported by the Thien Tam Foundation (Vingroup) with treatment costs of up to 70-100% at Vinmec International General Hospitals across the country

This screening and early detection program is a concrete implementation of a previous cooperation agreement between the Thien Tam Fund, Bright Future Fund, Bệnh viện K, and Vinmec International Hospital. It leverages the resources, expertise, and facilities of the partners to help underprivileged cancer patients access advanced treatment technologies and promote cancer prevention in the community.

“We are confident that this collaboration will enable more patients to receive treatment, contributing to better lives for people across Vietnam” said Mr. Le Khac Hiep, Vice Chairman of Vingroup, at the program launch ceremony on September 9, 2017, at Vinmec Times City International Hospital.
