I am at risk of HIV infection. From week 5 to week 8, I experienced muscle and musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, but no fever or swollen lymph nodes. I had an antibody test done at week 8, and it came back negative. Now, it has been 10 weeks, and my body still feels sore in the arms and legs, with mild folliculitis (no pus, just small red itchy spots). So, doctor, I would like to ask whether muscle and joint pain along with red itchy spots when suspected of HIV infection is something to worry about? Thank you, doctor.

With the question “Is muscle and joint pain along with red itchy spots when suspected of HIV infection something to worry about?”, the doctor would like to respond as follows:
These symptoms may be manifestations of some other diseases. You should visit a medical facility with an infectious disease specialist who can perform diagnostic tests for common infectious diseases.
If you still have concerns about red itchy spots when suspected of HIV infection, you can go to a hospital under the Vinmec Healthcare System for further examination and consultation. Thank you for trusting and sending your question to Vinmec. Wishing you good health.
Sincerely!
