Is it concerning if the heart rate fluctuates after stopping Concor 2.5?

Question

Dear doctor, one year ago, I had a fast heart rate, and after consulting a doctor, I was given Concor 2.5 mg, to be taken once daily. I took the medication at 10 AM every day. Now that I want to have another child, I have discontinued the medication. Five days after stopping, I have high blood pressure and a very fast heart rate of 135 beats per minute. I was very worried, so I resumed taking the medication but only half a tablet. After a few days, I noticed that my heart rate fluctuates a lot, with it sometimes going as low as 53 beats per minute. I regularly monitor my blood pressure at home using a blood pressure monitor. I would like to ask the doctor: Is it concerning if the heart rate fluctuates after stopping Concor 2.5? What should I do to manage this arrhythmia now?

Answer

Hello Nhung,
Based on the symptoms you've described, it is possible that you are currently experiencing arrhythmia. Furthermore, you mentioned having a history of a fast heart rate a year ago. It is recommended that you visit a cardiologist to determine the specific type of arrhythmia and its underlying cause, after which the doctor will guide you on appropriate treatment. It is important to stabilize your condition before planning a pregnancy to ensure both your health and a healthy pregnancy.
