LOOSE STOOLS, INDIGESTION, AND FATIGUE: WHAT COULD IT BE?

Question

Hello, Doctor,
For the past few days, I have been experiencing frequent loose stools, a dull ache in my stomach, lack of appetite, and difficulty digesting food. My limbs feel weak, and I’ve been alternating between hot and cold sensations. By late afternoon, I feel feverish, exhausted, and fatigued. Could you please tell me what might be causing these symptoms? Thank you.

Hello,
To address your question, “What causes loose stools, indigestion, and fatigue?”, here’s my response:
Your symptoms—frequent loose stools, indigestion, fatigue, limb weakness, and fluctuating hot-and-cold sensations—suggest that you might be experiencing intestinal inflammation due to a bacterial infection.
Here are some common signs of gastrointestinal infections:

  • Loose stools or mushy stools, sometimes alternating with constipation.
  • Pathogens causing intestinal infections may also affect other parts of the body, such as respiratory viral infections, sinus infections, or coughing.
  • A noticeable loss of appetite.
  • Symptoms such as nausea and a lack of interest in food.
  • In more severe cases, there may be signs of abdominal pain or bloating.
  • Individuals may experience abdominal cramping, with episodes lasting 3-4 minutes, becoming more severe if the underlying cause is not addressed.
  • Gastrointestinal infections can trigger irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) due to parasites residing in the intestines.
  • Trouble sleeping may occur in those with gastrointestinal infections.
  • Some individuals may experience teeth grinding during sleep.
  • Irritants such as yeast or dehydration in the digestive system can increase the risk of headaches.
  • Skin irritation or burning sensations may also be present in some patients with intestinal infections.

Given these symptoms, it’s advisable to visit a hospital as soon as possible for proper diagnosis and treatment.
